Bureau of alternate vision

2020 - 2021

Film, Interactive Installation

The invitation by ‘ZIP’ to present at the Oosterstraat 11, inspired us to give birth to ‘The Bureau of Alternate Vision’. A multimedia hoax organization in collaboration with Wouter Speksnijder. The corona-crisis restrained our work from having direct interaction with our audience. Through ‘BAV’ we seek new ways of interaction with our audience by use of videos, interactive displays, online forms, sensors, cameras, lighting, live streaming via OBS, coding and a variety of apps and online tools. We play around with utopian and dystopian ideas that modern technologies might bring us in the future, or already exist.

‘The Bureau of Alternate Vision’ is a portrayal of the digital world that surrounds us now and promises to be all-encompassing in our future. Taking shape as a futuristic corporation that provides a variety of services and guarantees to cover all physical and non-physical existence, the only thing The Bureau asks in return is your data and identity. The Bureau will program and take charge of the management of your life while upgrading you to a virtual dystopia. This portrayal is not a statement, nor does it have an activist attitude but rather a humoristic or satirical collection of reflections.
